Former UFC two-division champion Jon Jones made a prediction four years ago that Jon Jones will be involved in another controversy.
Last week, Jones made headlines after he was arrested in Albuquerque, New Mexico for aggravated DWI (driving while intoxicated) and negligent use of firearms.
He was also charged with no proof of vehicle insurance and possession of an open container.
It wasn’t the first time the UFC light heavyweight champion faced legal troubles and his fiercest rival, Cormier, predicted that Jones will never learn his lessons.
Prior to their scheduled rematch at UFC 200, DC did not hold back when he was asked about his rival’s future.
“Sobering truth is, his history dictates and determines that the same thing is going to happen. That is him at his core… He will not change. He’s the same guy. He’s rotten at his core and he will continue to f*** up.”

Failed Drug Tests
However, their much-anticipated rematch at UFC 200 did not come to fruition as the Jackson Wink MMA standout failed a drug test conducted by the UFC’s anti-doping partner, USADA.
They went on to share the cage in the following year and Jones would go 2-0 against Cormier but the victory was overturned to no-contest as the 32-year old tested positive to a banned substance.
After over a year of hiatus, the pound-for-pound king returned to the Octagon and recaptured the 205-pound strap by defeating Alexander Gustafsson in their rematch.
Jones has been undefeated since his MMA comeback in 2018, beating Anthony Smith, Thiago Santos, and Dominick Reyes in three straight title-defences.
Final Fight
Meanwhile, Cormier has already dismissed a third fight with Jones as he looks to have the final fight of his career this summer, which will be against Stipe Miocic.
“I think that as time passes, things kind of go away,” he said of his rivalry with Jones.
“We’ve seemed to be on different paths, obviously. But water under the bridge, it will never be.”
“I was blessed to have a lot of moments in fighting, and hopefully I got one more in me.”
“That’s really all I think about. That’s it. Just one more moment to hoist that belt up over my head like I’ve done on so many occasions.”
“I talked to the UFC and we’ve got a pretty clear idea of what we want to do. And now I have to see what the champ says. I don’t make the rules. He’s the champion.”
“I respect that, I respect Miocic, and I just hope it happens sooner than later. We got an idea what we’re gonna do, and I think it’ll work out.”
