UFC welterweight champion Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington has called out rapper 50 Cent to a celebrity boxing match.
Chaos has never been media shy, but has been in the limelight less since his defeat to Kamaru Usman at UFC 245.
The clash saw the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ destroy Covington’s jaw with a brutal right hand to defend the UFC welterweight title.
‘The Bright Side’
And 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, was quick to make a dig at his fellow American, who he accused of being racist.
Jackson posted an image to Instagram which read: “”Before the fight, he promised to present the championship belt to Donald Trump and mocked his adversary’s African heritage, asking: ‘What has his family ever done for America beside serve in the Federal penitentiary?’ Enjoy the broken jaw, you racist piece of s***”
The Candy Shop rapper also accompanied the image with a caption of his own, writing: “well look at the bright side, you won’t say the wrong thing or anything. For the next 6 weeks.”
Challenge
Covington has now finally responded to the comments, and says he wants a boxing match with ‘Fiddy’.
Talking on the Ariel Helwani Show, Covington said he’d put up $1million dollars and even offered to tie one of his hands behind his back.
He said: “I want to do a celebrity boxing match,”
“I’m going to tie one hand behind my back and I’m going to fight 50 Cent.”
“I’m going to put up $1 million of my dollars.”
Diverse Career
Jackson is a huge star, and since rising to prominence in the music industry, has explored alternative career avenues including clothing, beverages, film and TV production.
The star has also been involved in combat sports and has his own boxing promotion, TMT productions.
In 2018 he secured a licensing deal with Bellator, and has called out Conor McGregor in the past, though the fight didn’t come to fruition.
‘Cheated’
On his appearance on Helwani’s show on ESPN, Chaos also called out referee Marc Goddard for his decisions at UFC 245.
Covington says he was ‘cheated out of the title’ when he lost to Usman in December, and demands a rematch.
