Tyson Fury has responded to Anthony Joshua’s offer to be his sparring partner as preparation for his much-awaited rematch with Deontay Wilder.
In what could be the biggest boxing fight in 2020, Fury will take on the American power hitter in February for the re-run of their controversial December 2018 showdown.
‘The Gypsy King’ is looking to end Wilder’s reign as the WBC heavyweight champion, having defended the title for ten consecutive times.
Wilder is coming off a sensational knockout of Luis Ortiz in their rematch in Nevada, his 41st knockout of his professional career.
In an attempt to help Fury prepare for Wilder’s trademark, Joshua has offered the lineal heavyweight champion to be his training partner and Fury has gamely responded.
Getting Ready
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, the two-time heavyweight champion shared his prediction for the Wilder-Fury rematch before offering giving a sparring offer to his fellow Briton.
“Honestly, I think Fury might beat Deontay Wilder next time they’re out. That’s just my opinion,”
“I think Tyson Fury would fight me quicker than Wilder would.”
“If that’s the case, I want Fury to win, because I just want to fight.”
“To have that fight here on British soil? Man, can you imagine that?”
“Fury, if you need me for sparring, we’re going to fight one day. I’ve sparred Tyson Fury when we were kids anyway.”
“I would go out to America and spar Tyson Fury and get him ready for this Wilder fight.”
“I would like that fight, because I think Fury would fight me faster than Wilder would.”
“To have that fight here on British soil? Man, can you imagine that?!”
Proper Beating
Fury has accepted AJ’s offer and said he is welcome to join his training camp as he aims to give Wilder a ‘proper beating.’
“I would love to have you in camp, work out for this fight and give Deontay Wilder a proper beating,” the Gypsy King responded.
“I hope you mean it, as I’d love to have you in training camp with me.”
“When I do beat Wilder I will fight you AJ no problem.”
Fury has made headlines earlier this week after he decided to split with long time trainer, Ben Davidson.
“Tyson and myself had to both make decisions for our careers, which resulted in our working relationship coming to an end,” Davidson said.
For the rematch wilder, Fury will train under the tutelage of Javan ‘Sugar’ Hill.
