YouTube sensation Austin McBroom had been chasing a fight deal with TikTok superstar Bryce Hall for months to no avail, until the latter finally signed the dotted line back in March. It has now been announced that the two will slug it out as the headlining bout, at an event titled Social Gloves: Battle of the Platforms, which takes place on the 12th of June.
The bout that was initially scheduled for the 5th was forced to delay by a week for reasons unknown, but the extra time allotted will no doubt generate more hype for the night itself.
At a pre-fight conference hosted by popular YouTubers Keemstar and FouseyTube, an all out riot ensued when McBroom stepped up on Hall. provoking the Tik-Toker to start the bout there and then.
A cocky Hall warned McBroom; “Don’t you ever step up on me like that again, just watch,” before the Ace Family man left his seat to approach him, resulting in a brief scuffle between the two in which Hall was dropped before the momentary altercation was broken up by security.
Internet superstar matchups have been booming over the past couple of years, and a milestone event in the world of YouTube boxing was the much hyped bout between KSI and Logan Paul – which sold out the Manchester Arena accruing a live gate of $3.5 million, and also generating a further 1.3 million PPV buys worldwide. It comes as no surprise therefore, that elite Hollywood playmaker Paul Cazers who helped put together the aforementioned bout is also at the helm of this one.
It’s also worth noting that ‘The Battle of the Platforms’ is the first of many planned events that promoter Social Gloves will team up with goliaths LiveXLIve on, with many more in the pipeline.
The purse:
Both McBroom and Hall will be compensated with $5 Million for entering the ring on the 12th of June, and will additionally receive a percentage of PPV sales and a tidy knockout bonus should either of them be able to end proceedings prematurely.
In a TikTok interview with The No Jumper Podcast Hall revealed; “I’m getting four per cent of pay-per-view sales, and then five million as soon as I step in the ring, and then a one million dollar knock-out bonus,” which left interviewer Adam Grandmaison speechless.
