Bodybuilder ‘Popeye’ Shows Off His Biceps After Surgery Removed Dead Muscles

Russian bodybuilder and mixed martial artist named ‘Popeye’ needed to undergo surgery to remove a huge amount of dead muscles from his arms.

The 23-year old Kiril Tereshin became an online sensation because of his disproportionately massive biceps, which he obtained from injecting petroleum jelly.

He currently has more than 440 000 followers on Instagram.

Doctors from the First Moscow State Medical University said the athlete could have died or have his arms amputated if the substance were not extracted from his bulging biceps.

“The problem is that this is the petroleum jelly,” said Surgeon Dmitry Melnikov.

“You injected this so thoroughly, that it spread in the muscle and killed it.”

“‘It was dead anyway. We have done 25% of the repairs.”

Dr Melnikov added it will take Tereshin at least three more operations to remove the remaining 75% of synthol oil.

Lucky

The surgeon went to explain the effect of injecting petroleum jelly to the body, saying the implants have caused the bodybuilder ‘high fever, strong pain, and weakness.’

He said Tereshin was lucky that other parts of his body were spared from the damage.

“Petroleum jelly saturates the muscles, under skin tissues and the skin itself. “

“All that has to be removed, but we need to keep the vein, nerves and other functions of the limb.”

“Petroleum jelly is not designed for injection, only external application. Kiril injected about three litres into each arm.”

“It saturated the muscle tissues, blocked blood flow and as a result the tissue dies and gets replaced with a scar which is as tough as a tree.”

“Petroleum jelly affects the whole body, kidneys in particular.”

“I think Kirill did not fully realise the consequences of what he had been doing.”

Lighter

A month before the operation, Tereshin trained with the ‘Russian Hulk’ Tamaev Axsab for his Octagon fight against Russian blogger Oleg Mongol.

He eventually lost that match by way of submission in the first round.

‘Popeye’ admitted he planned to use the substance in other parts of his body until his arms had become paralyzed.

“In the beginning, I wanted to inject synthol oil into other parts of my body, but then the problems started and I stopped using it.”

After the first surgery, Tereshin shared “It feels very weird, very unusual. My arm feels lighter.”

“Now I am going through a rehab, soon we will proceed with the next surgery.”
