Watch: MMA Student Comes To Aid Of Store Manager During Confrontation

An MMA student has put his training to good use outside the Octagon by taking down a man who was threatening a store manager.

Watch the video below:

Confrontational

Marquise Brown is a mixed martial arts student at Capital MMA & Elite Fitness in Washington.

He made use of what he’d learned at the fight facility by taking down the man he believed to be brandishing a weapon.

Brown had reportedly stopped off in a pharmacy on his way to training, where he witnessed an argument between a customer and the store’s manager.

Moments later, the man returned to the store and continued to be confrontational, becoming increasingly aggressive before brandishing what appeared to Brown to be a weapon.

‘I needed to get involved’

Speaking about the incident (via Bloody Elbow), Brown said: “When I saw the black object, I thought I might need to get involved,”

Brown can be seen taking the man down before pinning him to the ground until police arrive.

Following the incident, police found that there were no weapons on the scene.

They consequently gave the man a warning and barred him from entering the store.

Following the events, Brown said: “We train every single day for stuff like this. I don’t really feel like a hero. I just hope it spreads awareness of learning how to protect yourself.”

A similar occurence happened not long ago when a Best Buy worker tackled a robber at a store in Hawaii.

24-year-old Summer Tapasa-Sataraka was fired after a video went viral of her tackling a man trying to steal goods from the store where she worked.

 ‘Rockstar’

UFC president Dana White caught wind of the incident, and offered to fly the fired shop worker to UFC 246 to watch Conor McGregor take on Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone.

White also expressed his interest in giving the young woman a job, and promised to turn her into a ‘rockstar’.

Rare Move

Notorious defeated Cerrone at UFC 246 in just 40 seconds, executing several rare shoulder strikes before downing Cowboy with a head-kick.

And the Irishman will now look to face two more opponents in 2020.
