Jorge Masvidal Mocks Colby Covington’s Brutal Jaw Injury

Jorge Masvidal has shown no sympathy for Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington after he suffered a brutal injury in his fight against Kamaru Usman at UFC 245.

Masvidal and Covington were once roommates, sparring partners and ‘best friends’, but things turned sour in September when Covington turned on his friend as the pair both looked for a title shot.

The pair have since traded blows in the media, most recently when Covington unleashed on Masvidal prior to his fight against Usman, calling him “Street Judas”.

Covington said to MMA Fighting: “It’s an easy fight. He knows what happens when I get my hands on him. I break him.”

“People want to put this hype on him like he’s some kind of god,”

“He sucks. He’s not well-rounded. He’s not a good fighter. He’s predictable.”

But Chaos went on to get his jaw obliterated by Usman and ultimately lose via TKO in the 5th round.

And it has now been revealed his jaw was broken by the Nigerian Nightmare’s colossal right hand.

The 31-year-old is now looking at six months on the sidelines while his face heals.

 No Sympathy

Masvidal has shown absolutely no sympathy for his friend turned nemesis. And he said he had previously threatened to break Covington’s jaw in the past when he refused to pay his coach.

Speaking to CBS Sports, Masvidal said: “At first my initial thing was just to break his face in, but my coach said that’s probably gonna get me in jail. Let the universe take care of him.

“His exact words were: ‘We’ll get him in a prize ring and break his jaw’. Somebody beat me to that. But his jaw’s broken.”

Masvidal went on to say he thinks Covington’s attempts to spark controversy and get a rise out of people are out of line. And he believes Chaos got what he deserved in the form of a brutal Usman right hand.

“Man, I don’t like to always be highly critical of human beings because I’m nowhere near perfect,”

“But I’m just not with that whole… your career’s based out of getting a rise out of people, right?”

“This is the guy that’s calling people virgins, calling people nerds that live in their parents’ basement, making fun of Brazilians.”

“That country, it’s not like it’s a rich country that’s doing well. They’ve got a lot of poverty over there and a lot of people over there that take it to heart what he’s saying, but he doesn’t give a flying f**k.”

“And he does it all for a like on Facebook, for a paycheck for the three, four, five pay-per-views that it went up with?”

“The guy’s a clown, man. He got what he deserved.”

 Fist Fight

The pair have been going back and forth for months, and looked set to settle their differences in the Octagon.

But with Covington now sidelined for a long period, it may be a considerable amount of time before fans see them go to war with their fists rather than their mouths.
