Jorge Masvidal continues to lure Conor McGregor to a future fight.
Talks about a potential clash between the two Ultimate Fighting Championship stars have been reignited after ‘The Notorious’ requested for Masvidal’s three-piece and a soda.
Shortly after Masvidal won the ‘baddest motherf***er’ belt at UFC 244, McGregor took to social media to let the MMA world know he wants to fight the streaking welterweight.
2019 has been a breakout year for the Miami, Florida native.
Prior to defeating Nate Diaz earlier this month, Masvidal made headlines for his brutal knockout of Darren Till and Ben Askren.
Currently, he holds the record for the fastest knockout in the UFC as he finished Askren just five seconds into their welterweight bout at UFC 239.
A strong candidate for the next welterweight title shot, ‘Gamebred’ said he is also willing to take on different opponent for his next fight if the price is right.
The Only One
In an attempt to earn a massive fight paycheck, Masvidal has recently demanded McGregor to accept a blockbuster showdown.
When ESPN posted an infographic about potential mega fights in 2020, which involves Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson, Kamaru Usman, Colby Covington and the famed Diaz brothers, the Irishman said he is ready to fight anyone in the list.
It didn’t take long before Masvidal responded to McGregor’s claim.
“Put your money where your mouth is I’m the only 1 #1of1. #theressurection”
The former two-division champion is set to return to action on January 2020. He is likely to fight Donald Cerrone in a battle of two UFC fan-favourites.
UFC president Dana White has dismissed a potential fight between Masvidal and McGregor, saying the former is too big for the Irishman.
Same Sentiment
Legendary MMA trainer Firas Zahabi echoed the same sentiment about the match-up, saying Masvidal is a more dangerous puncher than ‘The Notorious.’
“I think [Masvidal] beats McGregor,” he said.
“I think McGregor is a great fighter, I just think Masvidal is too big.”
“He’s a great puncher and has a great chin. If he takes McGregor past the two rounds, it’s going to be the Masvidal show.”
“I honestly would tell you that probably McGregor is the best puncher in the UFC.”
“If I had to choose one guy off the top of my head, I would pick McGregor right now.”
“However, there are guys out there who are very dangerous punchers, and I would say Jorge is among the elite.”
Will the UFC book Jorge Masvidal against Conor McGregor? Who do you think ‘Gamebred’ should fight next?
