Jon Jones has dismissed any chances of Israel Adesanya beating him in a fight inside the Octagon.
The two Ultimate Fighting Championship kings have been on a verbal feud since Adesanya said he will hunt another mixed martial arts ‘GOAT,’ following his victory over Anderson Silva last year.
Most recently, Adesanya vows to face Jones when he moves up to the heavyweight division.
“When he(Jones) said by the time he goes to heavyweight the fight will be.. who gives a f**k about weight. I have never given a f**k about weight,” Izzy told Submission Radio.
“It has never been an issue for me. I have been a heavyweight in boxing, in kickboxing, and I will do it in MMA. So it has never been an issue about weight.”
“You can try and run to heavyweight but I will chase him down, I will hunt him down if I will have to. Let him go to heavyweight.”
Not A Problem
The defending 205-pound champion will put his belt on the line this weekend when he takes on Dominick Reyes in the main event of UFC 247 in Texas.
If he retains his title, Jones is expected to change his weight class to pursue a super fight against Stipe Miocic.
Responding to Adesanya’s recent remarks, the all-time MMA great said a middleweight fighter would be an easy opponent for him at heavyweight.
“Come on. Daniel Cormier has fought many heavyweights,”Jones told Ariel Helwani.
“And he says in his interviews that Jon is a little bit bigger and a little bit stronger than you would imagine when you are in there with him.”
“This is a guy who fought Big Foot Silva. I don’t think a long lean middleweight would present me with much problem.”
“Especially when I get my hands on him and put him to the ground.”
Different Level
‘Bones’ admitted that Adesanya is one of the hottest fighters in the UFC right now but in terms of talent, he believes he is on a higher level compared to the middleweight champ.
<“People can eat up what he is saying. But the truth of the matter is he is scared today.”
<“He will be scared in 2021 as well. I am so far ahead when it comes in every sense of this game.”
“I am a man, he is like a child when it comes to this game. What I have proven already, what I have done, where I am going.”
“People can be more popular than me. You got guys like Conor who makes more money than me. I am not in it for what’s hot right now.”
“I am a household name in combat.”
“The more I talk about him it’s raising his stock. I have been winning world championships since when he was getting knocked out overseas for 5000 dollars.”
“I have bee doing this for years at the highest level.”
