Jon Jones has weighed in on the intriguing main event clash of this weekend’s UFC 246.
The Nevada-based promotion returns from over a month of hiatus as it raises the curtain for its first pay-per-view festivities in 2020.
Looking to start the new year on a high note, it books its biggest draw, Conor McGregor, against fellow fan-favourite, Donald Cerrone as the headlining fight of UFC, which will take place this Saturday at the T-mobile Arena.
McGregor is set to return to action after sitting out for more than a year, following a fourth-round submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at the historic UFC 229.
Cerrone, meanwhile, is looking to defy the odds to end a two-fight losing skid and prove that he is still one of the most dangerous fighters in the UFC.
For the current light heavyweight champion, ‘Cowboy’ is very capable of shocking the world and defeat the heavy-favourite, McGregor.

Jones, who is a former teammate of Cerrone at JacksonWink MMA in Albuquerque, said he will always have a special connection with the eight-year veteran.
To this, the light heavyweight king wants him to know he is on his side when he clashes with McGregor this Saturday.
“I’m really happy for Cowboy Cerrone, being an Albuquerque fighter, to have such a huge opportunity,” he told BT Sport in a recent interview (via BJPenn.com).
“Cowboy Cerrone and I will always have somewhat of a connection, and I’m pulling for him.”
“At the same time, Conor McGregor, I love everything he’s doing for the sport. Such a great businessman, and he’s brought so much awareness to our sport. May the best man win.”
Other UFC stars including Max Holloway, Alexander Volkanovski, Kamaru Usman, and Colby Covington also made their pick for the exciting welterweight main event.

Set to appear on his 51st professional bout, Cerrone will be earning the biggest paycheck of his career and has made it clear that he is not taking a dive against McGregor.
Going into Saturday’s fight, the UFC veteran holds the records for the most wins, most finishes, most knockdowns, and most post-fight bonuses in the promotion’s history.
And he plans to break his own record with a win against the Irishman.
Many fans and pundits believe it would be a sure victory for Cerrone if the fight goes the distance and if he avoids McGregor’s trademark left hand.
