Israel Adesanya Vows To Hunt Down Jon Jones At Heavyweight

UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya has vowed to ‘hunt down’ Jon Jones, even if it means following him to the heavyweight division.

Jones is the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, whilst Adesanya currently holds middleweight gold.

And there has been speculation that the two champions may face off in the future, with Dana White confirming a super-fight as a possibility.

But Jones recently revealed that he can’t see himself facing Adesanya in the future because he plans to move up to heavyweight.

‘Stylebender’ has now come out and accused Jones of ducking a fight, and says moving up a weight won’t help when it comes to avoiding him.

 ‘I’ll Hunt Him Down’

Speaking to Submission Radio, Adesanya said: “I saw something on Instagram that by the time he goes to heavyweight,”

“Who gives a f*** about weight?”

“I’ve never given a f*** about weight.”

“Since when?”

“It’s never been an issue for me.”

“I’ve been a heavyweight in boxing, in kickboxing.”

“I’ll do it in again in MMA.”

“So, it’s never been an issue for me.”

“He can try and run to heavyweight, but I’ll chase him down.”

“I’ll hunt him down if I have to.”

 Champions

Adesanya will defend his belt at UFC 248 on March 7 against Yoel Romero.

It’s his first title defence since he knocked out Robert Whittaker to take gold at UFC 243 back in October.

Jones meanwhile is set to face Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 on February 9 to defend his own title.

Stylebender says he’s currently focused on his own division, but once his work in middleweight is done, he’d be more than happy to follow ‘Bones’ to any weight class.

“Yeah, let him go to heavyweight,” he continued.

“Right now, I’m working at middleweight.”

“If he wants to come, he can skip the line if he comes down to middleweight.”

“I’ve said that already.”

“But I’m sure he can’t do that because his frame won’t let him.”

“So, let me do my work, shut the f*** up, and I’ll come see you when it’s time.”

 ‘It’s My Show’

Both fighters have other things to focus on in the immediate future, namely their title defences.

But Adesanya says the outcome of Jones’ next fight doesn’t matter, and he’ll hunt Jones down regardless.

“He tries to talk s*** about me when I’m fighting to try and take away the attention from my fight onto him,” Stylebender said.

“But it’s my show.”

“Yeah, but I don’t really care.”

“If Dom wins, good on Dom, happy for him – and I think he’s got a big problem on his hands with Dominick Reyes as well.”

“But if Dom wins, doesn’t matter, I’m still coming for that ass.”

With Adesanya stating he’ll fight Jones no matter what, we could see a heavyweight showdown between the champions in the future.
