Huge Fight Plans Confirmed For Conor McGregor In 2020

Coach Owen Roddy has confirmed huge fight plans for Conor McGregor in 2020 following his fight with Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone.

McGregor will make his UFC comeback on January 18 2020 when he takes on Cerrone at UFC 246.

It will be the first time the Irishman has stepped in the Octagon since his shattering defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018.

And his coach has confirmed plans for two further fights throughout the year.

 Big Plans

McGregor has previously laid out a three-fight plan at his press conference in Russia, including a fight against BMF champion Jorge Masvidal and a rematch with Khabib.

Roddy has now insisted that the fights will go ahead as planned. Speaking to MMA fighting, he said: “That’s the plan,”

“That’s what he wants to do and there’s one thing I always say: when Conor says he wants to do something, if anyone is going to do it, he can.”

“But, let’s not look past Cerrone. He’s a tricky opponent and he’s a veteran with tricks up his sleeve. But Conor going in there the way he looks now, he should do well.”

 Difficult Times

The Dubliner has experienced a difficult past couple of years, making headlines for the wrong reasons and struggling off the back of his defeat to Khabib.

But Roddy is confident that fans will see the old ‘Notorious’ when he returns to the Octagon in January.

He continued: “Looking at the second fight with Nate Diaz fight, that’s what you’re going to see,”

“It’s that Conor. He’s been at this weight for a while.”

“He’s used to training at this weight; grappling and sparring, running and doing the miles.”

“His body knows how to move that weight around now and he knows how to move it around quickly.”

“There’s no killing himself to make weight and there’s no limit calories in the last three weeks of camp trying to get down to weight…that’s gone. Now, he’s just focusing on his training, doing what he’s doing, looking at his opponent and breaking him down and dismantling him in the fight.”

Return of Notorious

Details have emerged of McGregor’s diet plan in the lead-up to his comeback fight.

And Roddy has also revealed that Notorious’ training is much more regimented than it was in the lead-up to his defeat to Khabib.

As he continues to outline plans to get his career back on track, could fans see the McGregor they once fell in love with?
