Henry Cejudo has called out featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, in a bid to capture his third Ultimate Fighting Championship belt.
The Olympic gold medalist is scheduled to return later this year to defend his bantamweight strap against ex-featherweight titlist, Jose Aldo, at UFC 250.
Due to a shoulder injury, he needed to sit out for the rest of 2019, following his historic win over Marlon Moraes last June.
In that said fight, Cejudo made history by winning the vacant bantamweight championship to become the fourth simultaneous two-weight champion, joining the ranks of Conor McGregor, Amanda Nunes, and Daniel Cormier.
However, he vacated one of his belts in December as the UFC booked Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueredo to fight for the flyweight belt.
If he succeeds in retaining his bantamweight belt this May, he wants a scrap with ‘overgorwn midget,’ Volknovski, next and try to win another UFC gold.
‘You’re Next’
At the Dominance MMA media day, Cejudo is serious in upgrading his resume to ‘Quadruple C’ by adding the Australian featherweight champion to his list of victims.
“ Here we go! My next opponent after Jose Baldo, I wanna go after that overgrown midget, Alexandra Volkanovski. So if you’re hearing this, You’re next!”
“This ain’t the MFC – the ‘Midget Fighting Championships. This is the UFC. You’re next.”
“A lot of it depends on Uncle Dana.”
“Uncle Dana said he’d never count me out again. He said ‘I’ll never doubt that kid again.’ I beat Jose Waldo, I wouldn’t mind fighting Volkanovski. I wouldn’t mind fighting that Kiwi. Drinking some kiwi juice.”

‘He’ll Regret It’
The reigning featherweight king has welcomed the possibility of fighting Cejudo and assured the bantamweight champ he will regret his decisions.
“Henry, he’s going to do his thing and talk and get his name and try to stay relevant and all that – and good on him,” Volkanovski told MMA Junkie.
“But if that happens, and he fights, and we do face each other in the octagon, he’ll regret calling me out pretty quick.”
Volkanovski also told Cejudo that his upcoming title-retention attempt will not be a walk in the park as he believes Aldo can pull off a massive upset.
“Obviously, Aldo’s got a couple of losses – but he’s still in good nick.”
“I still think he’s a tough fight for Cejudo, as well, so I hope Cejudo isn’t taking that fight lightly.”
“Aldo’s no joke. I don’t even know how old he is, but even at the age he is now, he’s still moving really well. I still think Aldo can get it done.”
“I don’t know. I’ll definitely watch. I’ll be interested to see. I think Aldo can actually get it done.”
