Gervonta Davis has been arrested on domestic violence charges after a video emerged of him violently grabbing his ex-girlfriend by the throat.
In the video Davis can be seen grabbing Andretta Smothers, who is also the mother of his child, by the throat at a charity basketball game in Florida.
He then marches the young woman out of the venue, followed by his entourage.

Denial
In a now deleted post to social media, Davis initially denied any wrongdoing, and instead dismissed the incident.
On Instagram, he wrote: “I never once hit her.”
“Yea I was aggressive and told her come on.”
“That’s the mother of my child I would never hurt her other than that happy New Years.”
“January was trash.”
Protégé
Davis is currently signed to Mayweather promotions, and is a two-weight world champion having held the WBA (Super) and IBF Super Featherweight titles.
But the undefeated prospect has had an array of troubles with the law.
In 2017 he was charged with assault for punching an ex-friend, but the charges were later dropped.
He was then arrested for his involvement in a street fight a year later, with an assault case in Virginia also recently closed when the boxer reached a settlement.
Davis fought three times last year, winning all of his fights by stoppage, his most recent victory coming against Yuriorkis Gamboa in December.
The Mayweather protégé looked to have a fantastic career ahead of him, but in light of recent events and his consequent arrest, could Davis’ career be put on halt?
