Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather doesn’t mind waiting for Conor McGregor.
The combat sports stars have been teasing fans of a potential boxing rematch since Mayweather announced he is coming out of retirement this year for ‘a grand sporting spectacle’ he is working with Ultimate Fighting Championship president, Dana White.
In August 2017, McGregor fought inside the squared circle for the first time in a showdown with the undefeated American dubbed as the ‘most lucrative fight in combat sports history’.

Excited
Last month, McGregor shared he rewatched his debut fight in the ring and claimed he won the later rounds against the boxing legend.
To this, the UFC’s biggest draw said he is excited to fight Mayweather in their “inevitable rematch” while telling former undisputed heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson, he’ll finish the American.
“It was a great contest, just watched it back! Early rounds all mine, and even later rounds when legs where gone, I still outlanded him,” he wrote.
“I received my credit from many notable names in the boxing world, which I was thankful for. None more so than from Mike [Tyson]. Excited for part 2.”
In a separate tweet, McGregor said: “Thank you Mike, and just know that for the inevitable rematch, with the knowledge I now hold of Floyd’s style, plus under the tutelage of my old school boxing coach, I will crack the puzzle, and I will beat Floyd. I promise my life on it. It is great to see you back Iron Mike.”

Quitter
Now, the boxing rematch is in jeopardy as McGregor recently called it a career, saying “the game just does not excite me.”
The Irishman announced on Twitter: “Hey guys I’ve decided to retire from fighting. Thank you all for the amazing memories! What a ride it’s been! Here is a picture of myself and my mother in Las Vegas post one of my World title wins! Pick the home of your dreams Mags I love you! Whatever you desire it’s yours.”
Responding to McGregor’s retirement, Mayweather slammed the MMA star for ‘quitting’ but assured him he is willing to wait for his return to give him the same punishment.
“If I’m not mistaken, didn’t you tell Mike Tyson you could beat me if we fought a second time? Now you’re quitting! I thought you wanted to beat the best? Well, if you decide to come back, I will be waiting to punish you again,” the undefeated boxer said.
