Donald Cerrone has shared his game plan for his much-awaited clash with Conor McGregor this weekend.
The mixed martial arts veteran is set for the biggest fight of his career as he meets ‘The Notorious’ in the main event of UFC 246 at the T-mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The highly-anticipated welterweight fight has recorded a $10 million gate, as per multiple reports, with tickets already sold out in less than three minutes.
Beer vs whiskey will be the theme of this titanic clash.
Cerrone is being predicted to win the fight if his ground game comes to play while McGregor is expected to dominate the striking department and could seal a knockout win if he lands that powerful left hand.
But with ‘Cowboy’ looking to challenge himself, he is considering to stand with McGregor and give him a doze of his own medicine.
‘My Decision’
In an interview with ESPN, Cerrone said he doesn’t mind getting criticize by MMA fans as he aims to bring the battle with McGregor to the feet.
“You know, I probably should [try to grapple], but I don’t think I will,” he stated, (transcript from MMA Junkie).
“I like to fight too, I like to get in there and throw down. Everyone says his standup is amazing, so why not go and test it?”
“Everyone says, ‘you want to just stand there and you’re going to get knocked out, that’s a stupid game, that’s a stupid decision.’ But it’s my decision, it’s my stupidity. Who the fuck are you to tell me what I can do?”
“I know who I am, I look in the mirror and I know exactly who I am so I get to go and make the decision.”
“I want to, why wouldn’t I want to stand with one of the best? Why not? Can I take the punch? That’s the question I want to know. Can he take my fucking kicks? That’s the question I want to know.
“Maybe Conor will shoot on me.”
Better Fighter
Holding various records in the UFC including the most wins and most finishes, ‘Cowboy’ declares he is a better fighter than the Irishman.
“Do I feel like a better mixed martial artist? Absolutely,” Cerrone told MMA Fighting.
“I feel like I’ve been in the trenches. I’ve been in the big fights. I’ve walked this path many, many times.
“This is my 51st MMA fight coming out of that tunnel. Literally, I’ve done it more than anybody.”
“We just get to go be who we want, train hard and show up healthy and I’m excited. All in all to get the best Conor, the best ‘Cowboy,’ this is the only way to do it.”
