Dillian Whyte has laid into Deontay Wilder once again, and says the WBC heavyweight champion has been avoiding him since 2017.
Whyte was recently reinstated as the WBC mandatory challenger following an investigation by UKAD into an alleged doping incident.
The British heavyweight was cleared of any wrongdoing and now looks to steer his career back in the right direction.
Other Plans
But the 31-year-old’s wait for a title shot will continue, as current champion Deontay Wilder has other plans.
Wilder will defend his title against Tyson Fury on February 22 as the two face each other for a second time.
The first bout between the two ended in a dramatic points draw, and saw Tyson Fury execute an incredible comeback after seemingly being knocked out cold.
The rematch puts even further delays on the title hopes of the‘Body Snatcher’.
Whyte has previously expressed his frustration at not getting a shot of his own, despite first becoming WBC #1 contender in October 2017.
And the Brit has now gone after Wilder again criticising the ‘Bronze Bomber’ for avoiding him.
Whyte uploaded a poster to Twitter of the American holding his WBC belt with ‘coward’ scrawled over the top.
The image also features the tagline: “My blood is green, my heart is gold”.
The word ‘gold’ has been covered with ‘yellow’, the colour associated with cowardice.
Alongside the image, Whyte wrote: “Congratulations to @BronzeBomber who has been awarded a special belt by @WBCBoxing the WBC Worlds Biggest Coward belt to be known as the WBC WBC belt for successfuly avoiding me as his official #1 ranked challenger for over 800 days”
Elusive
It’s not the first time Wilder has been blasted for his elusive nature when it comes to defending his title.
Whyte has previously referred to the champion as a ‘coward’, ‘chicken’ and ‘yellow-livered hill-billy’.
Meanwhile, unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has also questioned the Alabama fighter’s willingness to defend his title.
Talking to Sky Sports last month, AJ said: “It still puzzles me as to why it’s so difficult to pin this man down,”
“This is the man that I need to pin down to get the last ring, so I can conquer this division, as I’ve set out to do from day one.”
“When he’s ready as I am, I would love to be facing off here. Facing off with Deontay Wilder, talking about the keys to victory.”
“It’s not even about me now, it’s gone past that. It’s about the sport and our legacy, and I’ve always said, if he wants to create his legacy and be a future Hall-Of-Famer, he should come see us.”
Impatient
As he impatiently awaits his world title shot, Whyte has the option to face Alexander Povetkin, a fight which both parties have confirmed interest in.
If successful against Povetkin, the Body Snatcher will inevitably call out Wilder or Fury once more, depending on what happens in Las Vegas next month.
