Deontay Wilder vows to exact revenge on Tyson Fury when they meet this summer for the third instalment to their heavyweight rivalry.
Recording the first defeat of his career, Wilder found no answer to Fury’s disciplined offense to come up short of defending his WBC heavyweight belt in their blockbuster rematch last month.
Knocked down twice for the first time, the American knockout sensation suffered a technical knockout loss as his cornerman, Mark Breland, threw in the towel during a Fury onsalught in the seventh round.
It was Wilder’s first loss in 44 professional bouts, which ended his reign in the heavyweight division that lasted for five years.
This July, he will have the chance to recover from this stunning loss as the heavyweight pair is set to return to the MGM Grand Garden Arena for their trilogy bout, with Wilder looking to rise again to reclaim the throne.
Third Fight
As expected, Wilder has exercised his right to an immediate rematch with Fury following the TKO loss as confirmed by Top Rank CEO Bob Arum.
“Wilder and his representatives formerly notified us last night that they have accepted the rematch and are going forward,” the boxing promoter said, (per Metro).
“It’s going to happen in the summer, before the Olympics. Middle of July.”
“I told Eddie Hearn, I said “Stop looking at a Tyson Fury fight this year. You’ve got to fight Pulev in June, and Joshua is going to get knocked on his arse.”
“I guarantee you that Pulev will knockout Joshua like Tyson Fury knocked out Wilder.”
“So yes, I will look to make a Pulev-Fury fight to unify all the belts by the end of the year, but Mr. Hearn will have nothing to do with it.”

Rising Again
Weeks after the rematch, Wilder has reflected on the loss, saying he is in great spirits right now.
He also vowed to ‘rise from the ashes’ and regain the WBC heavyweight title by defeating the British champ in their summer fight.
“To all my loved ones around the world. I just want to let you know I am here. Your king is here,” Wilder said (transcript from World Boxing News).
“We ain’t going nowhere, for the war has just begun. I will rise again. I’m strong.”
“I am a king, you can’t take my pride. I am a warrior. I’m a king that will never give up. I’m a king that will fight to the death.”
“And if anyone doesn’t understand that, don’t understand what it is to go to war. (They) don’t understand what it is to fight.”
“We will rise again. We will regain the title. I will be back. We will hold our heads up high.”
“Your king is in great spirits. We will rise like a phoenix from the ashes and regain the title.”
