The Wilder family did not have much reasons to celebrate on Saturday night as Deontay Wilder’s brother suffered a devastating knockout.
Marsellos Wilder tussled with MMA veteran, Dustin Long, in a six-round cruiserweight bout on the undercard of the Wilder vs Ortiz II.
It was his fifth professional boxing fight since making his debut in May 2018.
The younger Wilder was in control in the early rounds before his opponent hit him with a perfect blow just over a minute left in the fourth round.
The 30-year old boxer attempted to get back to his feet but the referee immediately called the fight off.
The knockout loss was the second straight defeat of his blossoming boxing career as he was also finished last January by William Deets.
Marsello now currently holds a 5-2 win-loss record and has already two more losses than Deontay, who has remained perfect in 42 outings.

Little Pressure
In a past interview with World Boxing News, Marsellos admitted there is a little pressure on being a sibling of a world heavyweight champion.
“In my position, there’s always going to be a little pressure thrown at me because fans want to see me knock people out like my brother does.”
“But I don’t allow pressure to bother me much. I’m kind of use to it now. I’m going to just do me.
“There’s no nerves really, more of excitement to actually live out this moment and be able to be a professional boxer. It’s a vision I saw three years ago and here it is.”
“If a life-changing opportunity presents itself you have to take serious attention to the pros and cons of the situation and be smart about it.
“It’s now about getting more fights and more experience. They are definitely my first steps. I really don’t have a reason to rush my career.”
Triumphant
Hours after Marsellos’ brutal defeat, his brother, Deontay, defended his WBC heavyweight title for the tenth-straight time after finishing Luis Ortiz in their rematch.
Wilder bucked a slow start and finished the Cuban powerhouse in the seventh round with a vicious right hand.
The heavy hitter from Alabama confirmed he is fighting Tyson Fury for his next title-retention bid on February 2020.
“You can see why no other heavyweight wants to fight Ortiz,” he said in the post-fight interview, per CBS Sports.
“He’s very crafty in the ring and he moves strategically.”
“I had to play around with him and measure him in certain places. I had to go back and go forward.”
“My intellect is very high although I don’t get credit for it. I finally found my measurement and I took the shot and I hurt him.”
