Ultimate Fighting Championship president, Dana White, seems to like the idea of Tyson Fury donning the four ounce gloves.
Last month, the boxing heavyweight star has expressed his interest in starting a career in mixed martial arts, with videos of him training with middleweight fighter Darren Till already making rounds online.
“It was exciting training with Darren Till and we get on like a house on fire, he put me through a hard training session and it was really good.”
‘The Gypsy King’ has already called out reigning heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic and knockout artist Francis Ngannou as he sets his sights on taking over all combat sports.
“I don’t know where or when [I’ll move into MMA] because after I finish my boxing career I fancy my hand at MMA as well,” Fury told RTE Radio 1.
The UFC president initially told Fury to stay in the boxing realm as he might get smashed in the Octagon. But now, it looks like he is changing his tune.
‘It’s Interesting’
In a recent appearance at 106.7 FM in Washington, D.C, the outspoken promotion chief shared he has talked with Fury about his aspirations to join the UFC.
“It’s interesting. (Fury) and I talked the other day. We talked. So he really is interested in fighting, so I respect that,” White said, (transcript from MMA Junkie).
“We’ll see. We’ll see what happens.”
With a pair of huge fights set to happen in boxing’s heavyweight division, White said they have to see first how these bouts turn out before talking to Fury about a potential stint in the UFC.
“Let’s see what happens with his boxing career. He’s got this rematch coming up with Wilder, which is obviously huge and a fun fight for the heavyweight division.”
“You’ve got Ruiz and Joshua fighting this weekend. So we’ll see how that goes, and we’ll see what happens.”
Completely Healed
The British boxer is set to fight Deontay Wilder on February 22 for their highly-awaited rematch, with the WBC heavyweight title on the line.
According to boxing promoter, Bob Arum, Fury is all set to prepare for the Wilder rematch as the eye injury he sustained from his most recent bout has ‘completely healed.’
“I saw him when he was getting ready for the WWE show and everything had been healed,” Arum told Boxing Scene.
“He had great care with a plastic surgeon here and then when he went back to the UK, the leading plastic surgeon in the UK took care of him and you don’t see anything now.
“It is completely healed.”
