Conor McGregor wants to add another Ultimate Fighting Championship title to his record.
‘The Notorious’ from Ireland, who last fought in October 2018, is set for his much-awaited return to the UFC cage later this month.
Headlining the UFC 246 in Las Vegas, McGregor will face Donald Cerrone in an intriguing welterweight clash that is crucial on the revival of his fighting career.
If McGregor emerges victorious, there are plenty of potential big fights line up for him on his next outing.
The former two-division champion has expressed his interest on fighting Jorge Masvidal for the ‘baddest motherf***er’ strap while UFC president Dana White said he could earn another shot at the lightweight title.
Looking to fight three times in 2020, the Irishman said he is also setting his sights on winning the welterweight championship.
Open To All
In fact, he is more interested in capturing his third world title than dethroning Masvidal as the baddest motherf***er in MMA.
“I’d face Jorge. I’m not going to 170 just for Jorge,” McGregor said in a recent interview with The Mac Life.
“He hasn’t really got anything. I wasn’t really that happy with how that bad motherf*cker thing ended.”
“I think it’s unfinished. In my opinion, that bout is unfinished. It was only getting into a good bout, I believe. We were robbed of rounds 4 and 5 in that bout.”
“But I like that welterweight belt. I liked that welterweight title fight that was on the weekend, I liked the look of that. I liked the look of Kamaru Usman.”
“I liked the look of Colby [Covington]. I’m open to it all at 170.”
MMA fans rejoiced when it was announced that McGregor is returning at 170 pounds as he could provide plenty of interesting match-ups in the welterweight class.
The UFC president has also credited ‘The Notorious’ for his willingness to fight anybody, saying that’s what makes him appealing to MMA fans.
Chasing The Belts
Aside from attempting to become a world champion again, the former two-weight champion has vowed to show the MMA world his skills, which for him is on a different level now.
“A lot of people forget about my skill base,” McGregor continued.
“I’m going to go in there and remind them. I don’t feel these people are on my level when I am committed.”
“I have not been committed for a while. Up until about a year ago, I really started committing myself.”
“I look forward to showcasing my skills to the people.”
“Gold and I’d say silver cause that bad motherf*cker belt is a silver one, it’s not the best looking belt. I don’t really care about that, I want the gold.”
“I’m after the gold. 155 and 170. They’re the belts I am chasing now.”
