It looks like there is a new member of Team MAGA.
Conor McGregor made headlines on Monday after he praised President Donald Trump on the day of his third-year anniversary as the top government official of the United States.
The US president wrote in a tweet, “It was exactly three years ago today, January 20, 2017, that I was sworn into office. So appropriate that today is also MLK jr DAY.”
“African-American Unemployment is the LOWEST in the history of our Country, by far. Also, best Poverty, Youth, and Employment numbers, ever. Great!”
The UFC superstar responded by hailing Trump as the greatest US president of all-time.
“Phenomenal President. Quite possibly the USA 🐐. Most certainly one of them anyway, as he sits atop the shoulders of many amazing giants that came before him,” McGregor said of Trump.
“No easy feet. Early stages of term also. Incredible. Congrats and Happy Martin Luther King Jr. day America.”
Successful Return
‘The Notorious’ returned to actions last Saturday night and scored another iconic win in his MMA career at UFC 246 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He needed only 40 seconds to destroy MMA veteran, Donald Cerrone by unleashing brutal shoulder strikes, a head kick, and a barrage of punches.
Following the victory, McGregor now holds 22-4 win-loss record and has cracked the top 15 of the welterweight rankings.
He also moved to number three spot in the lightweight rankings and is now at 11th place in the pound-for-pound list.
The Irishman also becomes the first fighter in the UFC history to score a knockout win in the featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight classes.
To this, the US president congratulated McGregor for a big win.
Proud
But McGregor is not only proud of being the only fighter to record a knockout in three weight classes.
He is also overwhelmed by the opportunity to share the cage with Cerrone, who has the most knockouts, finishes, and takedowns in the UFC.
“The records that man has, give him some sort of belt,” McGregor said about ‘Cowboy’ (via MMA Junkie).
“Seriously. You give belts out, this, that and the other, and they’re even creating them these days.”
“What a phenomenal legacy Donald has, and it’s an honor to share the octagon with that man. Seriously, I mean that.”
“I’ve shared the octagon with some great UFC fighters, and Donald is up there with the best of them all. I’m very, very proud to share the octagon with him.”
“Phenomenal records, I can only hope and dream to achieve the records he has.”
“I was saying to Megan (Olivi) backstage, that’s equivalent to a world title for me.”
“To have a record like that, most head-kick knockouts but at the same time – and I knew he was planning to knock me out with a head kick.
