Conor McGregor is not impressed with Jorge Masvidal’s antics.
The ‘baddest motherf***er’ champion was in attendance at UFC 246 on Saturday night as ‘The Notorious’ locked horns with Donald Cerrone in a headlining welterweight bout.
‘Gamebred’ briefly stole the show at the T-mobile Arena as he arrived wearing a Versace robe, the same attire the Irishman used after an open workout in 2017 ahead of his crossover ‘money fight’ against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr.
McGregor went on to defeat Cerrone in the main event, finishing the MMA veteran just 40 seconds into the opening round with brutal shoulder strikes, a head kick, and ground-and-pound.
Aside from a $3 million paycheck, he also took home extra $50 000 for the Performance of the Night honor.
Following the victory, McGregor slammed Masvidal’s fashion statement, saying the welterweight star failed to get his attention.
Ridiculous
In the post-fight media scrum, the former two-division champion made comments on Masvidal’s outfit and said he blew his chances to shine in the Vegas crowd.
“Talk about blowing it,” Conor said of Masvidal’s chance to shine at UFC 246 (via MMA Fighting).
“If you ask me, that was ridiculous. I don’t know what was going on there. The old ladies in Ireland wear the house coats watching soap operas.”
“So I’m like what’s this guy sitting there? I don’t know, whatever, all the best. I know what it is [wearing the same robe]. Why? I don’t know either. I’m just whatever. I don’t know.”
Asked about a potential fight at 170 pounds, McGregor said the ‘BMF’ fight remains as one of his options for his next UFC outing.
“Of course [I would fight him], let’s see what happens.”
“I’d like to scoop up — that’s not a great belt is it?”
“But I’ll still take it. Add it to the list.”
“It wasn’t a good night for Jorge if you ask me. All the best to him. God loves a trier.”
History
With the win, Mcgregor becomes the first fighter in UFC history to score a knockout in three different weight classes.
“I made history here tonight – I set another record.”
“I’m the first fighter in UFC history to secure knockout victories at featherweight, at lightweight and now at welterweight, across three weight divisions.”
“I’m very, very proud of that.”
But ‘The Notorious’ said he has no plans of slowing down as he still has a lot of work to do to finally reclaim his lost glory.
“I like this weight division.”
“It’s good going up and down. God willing, I came out of here unscathed. I’m in shape. I don’t believe I’m there yet, though.”
“I’ve still got work to do to get back to where I was. Any one of these little mouthy fools can get it!”
