Conor McGregor has confirmed that a rematch with Floyd Mayweather will happen ‘at some stage’, after re-establishing himself in the UFC.
McGregor knocked out Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone in just 40 seconds at UFC 246 in Las Vegas.
The Dubliner intends to fight twice more in the Octagon in 2020, with Khabib Nurmagoemdov, Justing Gaethje and Jorge Masvidal all potential opponents.
Money Fight II
But Notorious has also reiterated his intentions to step back into the boxing ring, and has said that a rematch with Floyd Mayweather will go ahead.
McGregor fought Mayweather in August 2017 in what was coined as ‘The Money Fight’, ultimately losing via TKO in the tenth round.
Following his first win since 2016, the 31-year-old has now said that negotiations are ‘always ongoing’ with Mayweather, and believes there will be a second meeting between the two.
At the UFC 246 post-fight press conference, McGregor said: “Look, we’ll see what happens,”
“That Floyd, he’s a funny man, old Floyd.”
“See what happens.”
“The discussions are always ongoing, they never stop.”
“You know Floyd and going through money fast.”
“So, he’s far from retired.”
“That rematch will happen at some stage.”
Mayweather also shared a mock-up promotional poster for a rematch on social media.

‘Something Spectacular’
Dana White recently confirmed that he’s in talks with Mayweather to produce ‘something spectacular’ for fans, and announced at the conference that there are plans in place.
“We’re doing something with Floyd,” White said.
“Floyd is in our plans and we’re in Floyd’s plans this year.”
“We’ll end up doing something.”
Billionaire
McGregor has also revealed that he plans to become a billionaire before he’s 35.
His first bout with Mayweather was the second-highest paid fight of all time behind Mayweather vs Pacquiao.
A rematch therefore would go a long way in the Irishman’s bid to reach his billion dollar ambitions.
Notorious has also stated that he’ll happily step in the ring more than once, and Manny Pacquaio has emerged as another potential opponent when he makes the crossover again.
In an interview with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, McGregor said talks with Pacquiao were underway, and outlined his plans to win boxing gold.
He said: ““I would been open to other boxing bouts.”
“Manny, we’re actually close to signing Manny,”
“There’s been talks about the Manny fight aswell.”
“There was an offer made on that, yeah,”
To Be Confirmed
McGregor is yet to officially confirm his next fight, but his most likely next opponent looks to be Masvidal.
Should the former champion get through ‘Gamebred’, we could see the boxing negotiations come to more fruition.
