Mixed martial arts legend Chuck Liddell and Jon Jones have been spotted attempting to soothe tensions during the Black Lives Matter protests in their respective hometowns.
The anger over George Floyd’s death continues to grow in the United States as people took to the streets to protest against racism and police violence.
“There needs to be a nationwide policy change. When a man is in handcuffs and is screaming that he cannot breathe. Get the fuck off his chest and or neck. If you cant hold a man who is in handcuffs down by his feet you’re a pussy and probably shouldn’t be wearing that badge,” Jones said.
On Sunday, the two-time UFC light heavyweight champion was seen confiscating a spray paint from a protester, who was vandalizing property in Albuquerque.
“Is this s–t even about George Floyd anymore?!? Why the f–k are you punk ass teenagers destroying our cities!??” Jones wrote on Instagram, stressing the riots are not the proper way to protest.
“As a young black man trust me I’m frustrated as well but this is not the way, we are starting to make a bad situation worse. If you really got love for your city (505), protect your s–t.”
“All you old heads need to speak up, call your young family members and tell them to come home tonight.”

The pound-for-pound king then joined the clean up efforts in Albuquerque the following day and urged his fellow Americans to ‘get to work.’
Meanwhile, ‘The Iceman’ attempted to break up fights in Huntington Beach, California as he believes the protests should be done peacefully.
“It’s good to see people defending their city. It’s just terrible. Violence begets violence,” Liddell told ABC 7 (via bjpenn.com).
“Violence doesn’t help anybody. We all know what happened was wrong. Everyone I know thinks it was wrong. It’s hard to watch. But this does not help.”
“Destroying cities, destroying people, hurting people does not do any good for anybody. Protest all you want, but just do it peacefully.”
