Ahead of the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s first pay-per-view festivities this year, Donald Cerrone’s long-time sponsor, Budweiser, has dropped special ‘Cowboy’ cans as a show of support to the veteran fighter.
Looking to start the year on a sizzling note, the Nevada-based promotion booked Cerrone against McGregor , two of the most followed fighters in the UFC, in the main event of UFC 246 this Saturday at the T-mobile Arena.
According to reports, tickets to the much-awaited welterweight clash were sold out in less than three minutes, setting a whopping record of $10 million gate.
Beer vs whiskey will be the theme of the card’s headliner and to make it more exciting, Budweiser will be selling special ‘Cowboy’ cans in Las Vegas.
“So check this outttt. Budweiser (@budweiserusa) made a special Cowboy Can for Cerrone (@cowboycerrone) that will be sold all week in Las Vegas. We got it on camera for a video that will be released this week. Your move, proper 12 (@TheNotoriousMMA, @ProperWhiskey),” ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reported.
Blown Away
Cerrone has taken to Instagram to give fans a closer look at the Budweiser cans, saying he is blown away by the creation.
“Brewed and canned for Cowboy fans. The best right here is the slogan talking about, ‘I’m a blue-collar, All-American, hard-working boy.
I just want to let all the blue-collar boys know there’s still hope.
I want all the blue collar American working class people to know that I’m out there fighting for them.”
People ask me , ( why don’t you take time off?) but the working class doesn’t take time off.
They’re out there working every day. That’s what I do, too. I want them to know there is hope, and I’m out there just like they are.”
“This is the quote I had @budweiser put on the top of the can. They also put Brewed and Canned for cowboy fans.
I’m so blown away by this thank you @budweiserusa and I’m excited to see these cans all over Vegas.”
Biggest Paycheck
Cerrone and McGregor are looking to return to win column as they are both coming off a loss at 155 pounds.
The UFC veteran suffered a first round technical knockout loss to Justin Gaethje in September while ‘The Notorious’ was submitted by Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018.
Both fighters are also set to earn the biggest fight purse of their careers.
‘Cowboy’ has also shut down rumours that he is getting paid to lose against the former two-division champion.
“Hell no, I’m not bowing down. There’s a bunch of s*** going around, people keep telling me, ‘I heard you’re getting paid to take a dive.'”
“I’d rather fight for free than take money to f****** lose. That’s not me. I’m going to fight my ass off like I do every time.”
