Amir Khan is still holding out for a fight with Floyd Mayweather, who is set to come out of retirement for two fights in 2020.
Khan has long pushed for a fight with Mayweather but has been left empty-handed on multiple occasions.
In 2013, the Bolton-born boxer turned down a world title fight against Devon Alexander in the belief he would get his fight against ‘Money’, but nothing materialised.
Further still, in 2014 Mayweather ran a poll on Twitter to let fans decide who he should fight next.
Despite Khan getting more votes than Marcos Maidana, Mayweather still refused to fight him, instead favouring a bout with the Argentinian Maidana.

Mayweather’s Return
Mayweather walked away from professional boxing after beating Conor McGregor in 2017, but has since destroyed Tenshin Nasukuwa in an exhibition bout.
And the 42-year-old is now reportedly lining up two fights in 2020, working closely with UFC boss Dana White.
Reports suggest that Mayweather is aiming to fight in May and September, once against an MMA fighter and once against a boxer, which is speculated to be Manny Pacquiao.
Confidence
But Khan has refused to give up on his desire to step in the ring with Mayweather.
When asked about his next opponent, he told CNN: “There’s talks like Manny Pacquiao, Kell Brook, Floyd Mayweather. So there’s a lot of names that have been mentioned but lets see what happens.”
“Who I want more than anyone is Floyd Mayweather. I would love to fight with Floyd Mayweather.”
“I think Floyd’s a great fighter. He’s been in a ring with the best and beaten the best so to be in the ring with him would be amazing.”
And he might have shown some admiration for ‘Money’, but the former unified light-welterweight world champion wasn’t short on confidence.
When he asked if he thought he’d beat Mayweather he replied: “Definitely, otherwise I wouldn’t take it.”
Joke Fights
Khan has openly criticised Mayweather in the past for avoiding proper opponents and choosing fights he knows he will win easily, and believes it is harming boxing’s reputation.
Ahead of Mayweather’s exhibition fight against Nasakuwa on New Year’s Eve 2018, he told the Daily Mail: “Why is MMA and UFC surpassing boxing? Because they’re putting the better fights on, they’re putting the fights on that people want to see and these are just joke fights what Floyd Mayweather is doing.”
“He’s going to be getting a good cheque but it’s hurting boxing isn’t it?”
“Boxing fans are going to buy the fight, think it’s going to be a good fight, Mayweather is going to go in there and destroy the guy straight away.”
But despite his frustrations and and persistent call-outs, rumours surrounding Mayweather’s oppponents may mean Khan misses out on his fight once again.
