Alexander Volkov Schools Greg Hardy At UFC Moscow Co-Main Event

Alexander Volkov showed Greg Hardy how it’s done.

Hardy locked horns with the seventh-ranked heavyweight, Volkov, in the co-headlining fight of UFC Moscow at the CSKA Arena on Saturday as he stepped in as a late replacement for the injured Junior Dos Santos.

The former NFL player hit the MMA road with an impressive first-round knockout of Austen Lane at Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.

After calling it a football career, the former American defensive set his professional MMA career in motion with three knockout wins, with each win impressively lasting less than a minute to the opening round.

The UFC picked him up and set his debut at the co-main event of UFC Brooklyn last January.

His UFC debut turned into a disaster as he cruised to a disqualification loss after landing an illegal knee to Allen Crowder.

He then bounced back with back-to-back wins against Dmitry Smolyakov and Juan Adams respectively before scoring a controversial no-contest with Ben Sosoli last month due to illegal use of inhaler.

Very Easy Win

Meanwhile, Volkov hasn’t fought in the Octagon since his knockout loss to Derrick Lewis at UFC 229 in October 2018.

It was his fifth UFC outing and his first promotional loss, following four straight victories.

Pulling off a clinical performance, the Russian hero made easy work of the ex-NFL player to come out with a unanimous decision victory.

Volkov improves to a 5-1 win-loss slate and may finally crack the top five of the official rankings while Hardy suffered his first non-DQ loss in his UFC career.
